JPG vs PNG vs WebP - Which to Choose?

• JPEG: Best for photos. Lossy compression, smaller files, no transparency. Use 80-90% quality for the best balance.
• PNG: Best for graphics with text, logos, or transparency. Lossless, larger files. Use for screenshots or graphics with sharp edges.
• WebP: Modern format with better compression than JPEG and support for transparency like PNG. Use if your target platform supports it (all modern browsers do).

Tips for Better Cropping

• Use the rule of thirds: Imagine a 3×3 grid over your image. Place your subject at one of the four intersections for a more dynamic composition.
• Leave headroom: For portraits, leave space above the subject's head. Tight crops can feel claustrophobic.
• Watch the eyes: In portrait crops, the eyes should be in the upper third of the frame.
• Avoid cutting at joints: Don't crop at the wrist, elbow, knee, or neck. Crop mid-limb instead for a more natural look.
• Check the corners: After cropping, scan the corners of the new frame for distracting elements.

Privacy

This cropper runs entirely in your browser using Cropper.js and the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image is loaded into memory, edited locally, and offered as a download. No image data is ever transmitted over the network. You can verify this by opening Developer Tools (F12) → Network tab while editing - you'll see no upload requests.
